Profile of Grace Church:
Nestled in the heart of the prairie in Jamestown, North Dakota, Grace Episcopal Church was founded in 1881 by a group of pioneers dedicated to spreading the Good News of Christ. Today, we have an average of 58 weekly attendees at our traditional morning service and 28 weekly attendees at our contemporary evening service, with two-thirds of those responding to our profile survey reporting attending Sunday services weekly. The SundayNight Praise service in particular attracts a nontraditional congregation. We have been blessed to see a 26% growth in our congregation in the past five years. The median age range of our members is 41-60 years old, but we are especially excited to see the growth in attendance of young families with children. We have gone from having almost no children at our Sunday services to having approximately 20 children in attendance, over half of whom are between the ages of 7 and 12, which underscores the importance of children’s Sunday school.
We believe in expressing our Christian faith outside of Sunday services by relating to others in Christian ways and serving others as we are able. Our congregation overwhelmingly believes that the greatest strength of our church is the people who make up our community of believers. Our friendliness, warmth, open-mindedness, and dedication to the ministries of the church coupled with our dedication to Anglican traditions and beliefs propel us toward the conviction that the future of Grace is bright with growth. We recognize that to achieve our objectives, we need a strong and dedicated leader, a commitment of our members to increasing involvement in the ministries of Grace, and a focus on growing our church through evangelism with an emphasis on discipleship.
We are seeking a leader who can nurture the continued spiritual growth of our community and lay leadership through biblically-based teaching and leadership, effective preaching, and pastoral care. We look forward to a collaborative relationship in which our congregation and priest-in-charge learn from and with each other, supporting each other toward a deeper relationship with God and His community of believers.
This position is a 3/4 time position at Grace Church (paid by Grace) and 1/4 time (paid by Diocese) performing Diocesan duties as assigned by the Bishop. Participation in the life of both the parish and the Diocese is one of the expectations of this position. In addition to the usual duties of the priesthood, there will be opportunity to join other Diocesan clergy in teaching and preparing people for varied ministries both within and outside the church.
Please see our Ministry Portfolio on the OTM website. We are accepting applications through October 2015.
